Meet Kate
I’m Kate Farrar, and I’m running for re-election for the20th District in West Hartford and Newington. As your State Representative, I will always fight to make sure everyone in our community can thrive.
Why I’m Running
The 20th District is a special place to call home— especially as we’ve faced uncertain times and great challenges together. I’ve listened and learned from you every day to be an effective champion for our community.
During my three terms in office, we’ve worked to achieve historic funding for childcare, tax cuts for working families and seniors, and greater equity in education and the workforce. I’m also proud to have delivered millions of dollars in investment for our local schools, housing options, libraries, road safety, and arts organizations.
But rising costs and attacks from Washington are putting the American Dream out of reach for too many of us. We need to make Connecticut more affordable by fixing the state’s unfair tax system., We must respond decisively to the devastating federal cuts hurting our residents. And we will always defend the rights, freedoms, and dignity of every person.
As your State Representative, I will always fight for meaningful change and real solutions for all across the 20th District and our state.
Where I’ve Come From
Connecticut is my home. I grew up here and graduated from UConn. I took time to live and work in other areas of the country to expand my perspective and experience, and then moved home with my husband, Chan, and our dog, Lizzie, to apply it.
What I’ve learned over my career — from expanding STEM opportunities for students to championing paid family medical leave — is that to get work done, leaders need to start by listening carefully to individual needs. Leaders also need to build support and work together.
My continued role as a non-profit leader and community volunteer brings a breadth of experience to this role as State Representative.
I know what it takes to represent you, to make you a priority, and I want us to continue to build a stronger and more affordable Connecticut where every person and family can thrive.
I hope to earn your trust and your vote in November.
